TWO WOODS COMPETITION
Entries for this years event was very low, only nine people played. However it was a dry day after heavy overnight rain and Thunder storms, the benefit was that the speed of the green had slowed a little.
There were three "round robin" groups with Semi Final matches Christine v Jim and Paul v Brian
CONGRATULATIONS to BRIAN and CHRISTINE who will play the final during our finals weekend early in September

Single Day Competitions
SINGLE DAY COMPETITIONS
Entry sheets for these events will be posted at the clubhouse a few weeks in advance of the competition date, and additionally a form is included below if you want to submit your entry "on line" Entries should be submitted at least 5 days in advance of the event date to allow the coordinator time to plan the day. Whilst it will depend on the number of entries/ nature of the event it is hoped to structure all competitions to be played between 10.00 and 17.00 and ensure all entrants get a minimum of two games. The final format will be decided once numbers are known and whilst these may vary indicative formats are given below for each event.
Entry fee for each event is £3 per person, collected on the day or paid in advance to the bank account.
Saturday 13th May DRAWN TRIPLES
Open to all Full members. Teams will be drawn from three seeded pots. Matches will be played with three bowls for each player over 8 ends on a “round robin” format with group winners playing quarter and semi-finals as required.
Saturday 10th June AUSSIE PAIRS
Open to all Full members. Teams will be drawn from two seeded pots. Matches will be played with four bowls for each player over 8 ends on a “round robin” format with group winners playing semi-finals. ** Other than normal bowls footwear dress code will be informal, preferably with an “Aussie” theme ** Shots scored will decide the match, two points for a win and one point each if drawn. Shot difference, shots scored and ends won deciding position in table if points awarded are equal
Sunday 18 June TWO WOODS
Open to all Full members. Matches will be drawn from seeded pots and will played using only two woods per player over 10 ends on a “round robin” format with quarter and semi finals as required. Shots scored will decide the match, two points for a win and one point each if drawn. Shot difference, shots scored and ends won deciding position in table if points awarded are equal
Saturday 1st July OPEN PAIRS
Open to all Full members who can choose their own partners. Matches will be played with four bowls for each player over 12 ends on a “round robin” basis with quarter and semi finals as required. two points for a win and one point each if drawn. Shot difference, shots scored and ends won deciding position in table if points awarded are equal
Sunday 16th July Family “Intergenerational” Tournament Pairs Fun Event
Open for all members to play with a “family” member from a different generation (they don’t have to be a member). Format to be finalised nearer the time but will be pairs, likely with four bowls per player, playing at least two games of 6/8 ends each. There may be a few special invites issued for teams who don’t include a member !! It is planned to have a BBQ or similar later in the afternoon.
Saturday 29th July YARDSTICK
Open to all Full members. A singles competition with each player using 4 bowls. A point is scored for all bowls within a yard of the jack after all bowls in an end have come to rest. The match is played over 12 ends with the winner decided by the highest points tally. two points for a win and one point each if drawn. Shot difference, shots scored and ends won deciding position in table if points awarded are equal. Play will be on a round robin basis.
Saturday 5 August HANDICAP
Open to all Full members and is a singles event over 12 ends using four bowls each. Each player will be allocated a handicap (by the organising committee) with matches played on a “round robin” basis. Individual handicaps will be shown on scorecards/scoreboards as the starting position with normal shots scored during the 12 ends. Two points for a win and one point each if drawn. Shot difference, shots scored and ends won deciding position in table if points awarded are equal. Quarter and Semi Finals will be played as required.
Saturday 12th August RESERVE COMPETITION DAY
This day has been set aside to be used if any of the one day events are cancelled or cannot be completed on the day.
Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd SEPTEMBER FINALS WEEKEND
ALL Competition FINALS are scheduled to be played during this weekend. The “running order” will be arranged nearer the time when all finalist are known. It is usual to round off the weekend with a BBQ or similar around 4pm on the Sunday.
Saturday 9th September RESERVE DAY for Finals
Time set aside for any finals that have to be postponed from Finals Weekend.
