Just over one month left of the season and lots is going on!!

FINALS WEEKEND including BBQ - Saturday 24th August and Sunday 25th August

This coming weekend is the culmination of our club competitions played throughout the season including the ongoing knockout competitions and the one day events. At present 19 different club members have qualified for the various finals and this could increase to 20 as the final knockout games are played. Spectators and supporters really add to the atmosphere so please try to come along

The games will be played over the 2 days starting at 10am on Saturday morning. The final schedule is still being worked on to try to ensure that those playing in more than one final have their games spread out over the 2 days.

The weekend will finish with a BBQ starting at approximately 4pm on the Sunday. All members (playing and social) plus family are invited to come along and enjoy the BBQ. The cost will be £3.00 a head and the menu will include nibbles, sausages and burgers (with buns), a variety of salads and will be followed by desserts. Bring your own drink (other than tea and coffee). Our very own UKULELE group will be performing!! To help with catering and so that we have an indication of numbers please let us know if you are able to come (plus any others) either by putting your name up on the notice board or by using the contact form below (or just tell Paul, Kim or Denise)

UPDATE ON THE BREAK IN

Unfortunately the police do not have any leads at present. We are liaising with the insurance company, obtaining quotes and arranging demonstrations of possible replacement equipment. We are also looking at ways to enhance the security at the club.

BT Telecoms Mast - this has been very frustrating as having been advised that the access roadway would be closed from 8am to 5pm on Monday 12th August through to Wednesday /Thursday unfortunately, we have just learned that the work has been delayed and it is now expected that the access will be closed 8am to 5pm on Tuesday 20th through to Thursday 22nd. The club will be open but access will be pedestrian only through the gate at the bottom of Millenium Field. Hopefully the enhanced mobile signal in the village will make it all worthwhile!!

LADIES DAY - 8th August

Our Ladies Day was a great success and raised over £1200 for club funds. All of the 28 triples (84 ladies) arrived and the tournament was won by a team from Peninsula. Big well done to Maggie and Laurie for organising the event, to Jeannette for co-ordinating all of the catering and to all the club members who donated cakes and came along to help on the day. The new ladies toilets were open for the day and led to lots of amusing and positive comments from our visitors.

CLUB HANDICAP TOURNAMENT - although there was a relatively small turnout (with 14 playing), those there had a very enjoyable day, battling a little bit with the wind!! The handicap committee (David and Paul) did a good job and there were some very close games. Sean and David are through to the final. We had several first time markers most of whom were keen to have a bit of tuition next year.

TRACTORFEST - full update in next newsletter. A very busy weekend with some challenging weather and muddy access. However well done all who came along to run the tea tent or were working on other stalls/areas.

NEXT NEWSLETTER - I will aim to get another newsletter out next week with any updates on finals weekend and setting out events, activities and dates for the remainder of the season.
