Some 16 members have been enjoying rollups over the past month and it is clear that several are keen for a bit of structured competition. We are missing all those members who are not able to come along either due to shielding, isolating or simply that the time is not right for them but we do look forward to when we can all get back to enjoying bowls together. In the meantime:-

BIDDENDEN BOWLS CLUB COVID 19 COMPETITIONS 2020

As the restrictions around bowling activities look like remaining for most of the season the committee has decided to cancel all our normal 2020 competitions. However, we plan to arrange a series of COVID 19 events during July and August, both singles and pairs. Whilst there will be some similarities to our normal competitions there will be some important differences and these special events in no way replace our normal ones.

All the events will be run as leagues/round robin competitions and it is hoped that we may still be able to hold some finals / play offs around the previously planned finals dates. All games will be over 12 ends, with a practical approach to agreement of shots/measuring. Markers for singles matches.

The planned events are as follows:

COVID 19 “Bowl” Singles Open to all members who have not yet won a singles competition. 12 Ends per game with four bowls each player.

COVID 19 Mixed Singles Open to all members 12 Ends per game with four bowls each player.

COVID 19 Drawn Pairs Open to all members 12 Ends per game with four bowls for each player. Pairs will be drawn from two seeded “pots”

COVID 19 “Minimum Jack Yardstick” Singles over 12 Ends four bowls each player, Jack length to be limited to 23 – 25 M. Players score one point for each bowl within a yard of the jack at the conclusion of each end, highest points score after 12 ends wins.

Please indicate which competitions you would like to enter and email to biddendenbowlsclub@gmail.com or leave in the box at the club equipment table. Closing date for entries Sunday 28 June, Draws will be made by 30 June and published along with the “windows” for matches to be played.
