2 months to go until the end of the season and a busy few weeks are coming up. First of all, a couple of new dates for your diary:

CLUB 2 WOODS COMPETITION - With the heavy overnight rain last Friday night this competition had to be postponed as the rink was not playable until well into Saturday afternoon. It is now taking place on Tuesday 13th August with a 12.45 check in for a 1pm start. it is likely to finish in the early evening. The original list of names of those playing is up in the clubhouse. Please tick or cross out or add your name as appropriate or let Paul know by contacting him via the website. We are hoping that most people down to play last Saturday will be able to play on the 13th and maybe a few more!

QUIZ NIGHT - Now Saturday 26th October at Biddenden Village Hall. This is a date change as the committee felt that holding it on 21st September as originally planned would have made it a real rush as hopefully lots of members will be enjoying the final match of the season against New Romney in the afternoon. This is an important fund raiser as well as lots of fun. So please try to get together a table or join with some others to make up a table.

Toilets - The stud work for the doors, windows, walls and roof are up and the internal panelling was delivered this morning. Hopefully over the next few days the new block will really take shape.

Telecoms Mast - many of you will have seen the large lorries in the squash club car park and the sheets laid across the football pitches towards the tennis courts. Over the next 3 weeks the mast will be erected. This stage should not affect the bowls club although during the 2nd stage, due to start on 12th August, the entrance road is likely to blocked for 3 to 5 days as the cabling etc is run along the road. This is after our Ladies tournament and as soon as we get more details we will let members know.

Leagues - The Weald and Maidstone Leagues only have a few more matches to go. Our A team in the Mixed Triples Weald League Division 2 are currently top with 3 games to play. They are away this evening at Hawkhurst (who are 2nd and 8 points behind) and then will be home to Headcorn A on Tuesday 30th July. Their final match is away to Loose B on 6th August. Paddock Wood have a game in hand and they are 11 points behind. Looks like being a tight finish. I am sure that support at their home game on 30th July would be much appreciated. The B team also have 3 games to go (all away). Whilst they currently lie bottom of division 3 if they can beat Loose C this evening by 7-3 or better they would move off bottom spot!!.

The mens team in the Friday evening Maidstone League are battling with Charing for top spot with the teams currently tied on 45 points. Our men are playing at home for their final 2 fixtures - Lenham C on 26th July and Charing on the 2nd August which could be a league decider. A number of people regularly go along to watch and all are very welcome. Games start at 6pm. We will be serving hot dogs on both of these evenings so if you fancy a Friday evening at the green please come along.

Coaching - I am pleased to advise that I have completed my Coach Bowls Level 1 Award in Coaching Bowls. Thank you to various players who have let me practise with them!! Kev is working towards his level 1 and 2 awards with Chris Clark (our very experienced level 2 coach). Hopefully this will allow us to offer coaching to junior bowlers next season and provide a programme for beginner/inexperienced bowlers and those looking to up their skills/knowledge (e.g. marking, playing 2 and skip).
