PROTOCOL– 2019

Club Championship, Mens & Ladies Championship, Biddenden Bowl

Competitors are expected to show courtesy to other participants by ensuring that all ties are played within the dates specified. Both parties to any tie will be held equally responsible for playing and completing the tie by the cut-off date displayed on the club notice board. The following protocol is intended to guide members of the club.

1. ARRANGING TIES

The challenger, i.e. The first named on the competition sheet, is responsible for making match arrangements. (a marker will be needed for singles games).

v  The challenger must contact the opponent within 7 days of the competition start date for each round.

The challenger should submit three dates and times of play to the opponent. The opponent should agree a date and time of play or a mutually agreed alternative.

v  If the challenger fails to submit three dates and times of play within seven days, the opponent may submit three dates, one of which the challenger must accept. However, if it were found that both parties had done nothing to progress the tie, then the ultimate decision would be made by the Competition Secretary to withdraw both parties from the competition, thus allowing the next round to be arranged and played.

v  Either party must bring any difficulty in arranging a tie to the immediate attention of the Competition Secretary who will make a decision according to the individual circumstances, (always bearing in mind that the arranging of the tie is the equal responsibility of both parties).

v  If, on the other hand, one party had made approaches without success, they should advise the Competition Secretary before the “play-off” deadline is reached. After appropriate enquires, the Competition Secretary will make a decision as to where the blame lies and withdraw that person from the competition.

v  Both the players must sign the score card and enter the date and time the tie was completed.

v  The score card is kept by the marker. (the marker should not be a partner or relative of either the challenger or the opponent).

v  The Competition Secretary’s decision will be final.
