Intergeneration 28th Aug

Biddenden Bowls Club Intergenerational 17 July

INTERGENERATIONAL FUN TOURNAMENT

SUNDAY 28th August

What a brilliant afternoon. Congratulations to Jim & Rachel and Edward & Freddie who won their groups and then drew in the final!! We had 8 pairs including 1 great grandad, 4 grandads, 2 grandmas, 1 mum, 1 son, 1 great grandson, 3 grandsons, 3 grand daughters playing. Great bowls, great fun, great competition and great family time. Two groups of 4 pairs played a round robin with a Bowls Bash type scoring system. Every pair won at least one game!!  David and Alfie won the kisses price for most bowls kissing the jack on delivery.

The intergenerational tournament

I am sure that all our families wonder why on earth we all spend so much time at the green and what is the fascination with bowls. So now is the chance to show them and get them involved.

The tournament is open to any member to enter with someone from their family from a different generation. Pairs could be two adults, an adult and teenager, an adult and a child. (There is a degree of flexibility!)

Each pair will play at least 3 games of pairs and for each game there will be a “minder” to support the younger players/non bowlers and advise/help as needed e.g. bias, scoring, measuring etc.

We are still finalising the details but jack length will be appropriate for the pairs playing and scoring is likely to be a  3 2 1 points system so that more bowls count.

There will be a skills competition for everyone to enter.

Play will start at 13.30 and should finish by 17.00 Tea, Coffee and cold drinks will be available throughout the day but bring some snacks to keep you going.

Entry will be £5 per pair

New bowlers can have a practice and a bit of tuition from 12.15 on the day or why not bring them along ahead of the day to have a go. Casual dress and flat soled shoes. Bowls are available from children’s sizes upwards.

Please do find a family member and enter. We already have a few combinations entered including: great grandad/great grandson, nan/ granddaughter, niece/uncle, grandad/grandson but we would like a lot more. Adult "children" welcome.

This is intended to be a real bowls celebration with our families whether they play or come along to spectate. We will need a team of “minders” and people to help us run the day, so please even if you are not playing put yourself forward to help and come along and enjoy.
