Our club competitions are a really important part of the calendar and a great opportunity for all of our members (experienced or new, young or older!) to take part. Competitions run from May to August and all culminate on Finals weekend - 2nd/3rd September. Please keep this weekend free to join in the celebrations whether playing or supporting.

Full details of all the competitions are on the website but here is a brief summary of the events and how to enter. Any queries please get in touch at [email protected] - Martin G

KNOCKOUT SINGLES COMPETITIONS

All entries for the knockout competitions must be in by Sunday 30th April 2023 to allow the draws to be made. Entry fee is £3 per person per event and must be paid before the draw to the club’s bank account or in cash. Complete the entry form on the One Day Competitions page or email me.

BIDDENDEN BOWL

Singles Competition open to all members who have not previously won a singles competition (either at Biddenden or another club). . All members who qualify to play are encouraged to enter to enjoy this popular event and gain experience.

LADIES SINGLES and MENS SINGLES

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - open to all members.

All the singles knockout matches are played with four bowls each and first to 21 shots wins.

Single Day Events

These normally run from 9.45 to latest 5pm . Players and supporters take along a picnic (and the odd alcoholic tipple is not unknown) and these really are enjoyable days.

Entry sheets will be posted at the clubhouse a few weeks in advance of the competition dates and an entry form is available on the website. Most events will be played in a round robin format to ensure everyone plays at least 2 games. Semi-finals will be played if needed. [depending on how many enter each event the number of ends/games may be adjusted]

Entry fee for each event is £3 per person, collected on the day

Saturday 10th June DRAWN AUSSIE PAIRS

We are retaining this popular format. Teams are drawn from two seeded pots. Matches will be played with four bowls for each player over 8 ends. Dress code will be informal, preferably with an “Aussie” theme

Sunday 16th July pm Family “Intergenerational”

Open to all members to play with a “family” member from a different generation (they don’t have to be a member). Format to be finalised nearer the time. There may be a few special invites issued for teams who don’t include a member!! This will be played to a final on the day.

Saturday 29th July YARDSTICK

A singles competition with each player using 4 bowls. A point is scored for all bowls within a yard of the jack after all bowls in an end have come to rest and is played over 12 ends.

Saturday 5 August HANDICAP

A singles event over 12 ends using four bowls each. Each player will be allocated a handicap with matches played on a “round robin” basis. A good chance for newer bowlers to take on the more experienced.

Remember that in each game one side will win and one will be runner up. So you have nothing to lose by entering by but lots of fun, experience and enjoyment can be gained!!
